Lowering an 08 Ultra

RE: Lowering an 08 Ultra
I weight 185 and my wife is close to your riders size. I put the HD lowering shocks and the reach seat and I like it, great ride. When I can do with out my ride I will let the dealer install the (fork springs)lowering front end kit on. I am just a little to unsure of doing this myself. \\; A friend of mine put the brackets on, but I do not like them because the shocks lean out at an angle. Use 40 psi in rear tire with rider and 25 psi in rear shocks. Bluedoghd[sm=americanasmiley.gif][sm=biker2.gif]

RE: Lowering an 08 Ultra
I did the rear lowering also -  \\;11-inch shocks on the 08 Ultra vs the brackets on the 03 RK. IMHO Safer with the shocks. I have the same 29" inseam, and have to \\;position with one leg on the ground to balance at stops. If not, then it is still on the tippy toes. Gets nervy 2-up. I just learned to put more air on the shocks (more than 5lbs) \\;and yes, it is convenient to have the hand pump nearby in the bags. I didn't lower the front to keep the "mini" chopper effect. Hope this adds to discussion and thanks for the tip from the rest of the readers.

RE: Lowering an 08 Ultra
Thanks All for your responces. The Mean City Cycles seats sounds like the way to go, cheaper anyway and if I can get an extra inch or so then I won't have to purchase the 11" shocks from HD. For those of you that have had the seat modified, which choise did you have done to your seat and was the mod done to your stock seat or the reach seat? I'm thinking about sending my stock seat to Mean City Cycles for the mod and kept the reach seat untouched. If everything works then I could always sell the reach seat on ebay, right?
Thanks again for everyones input, sounds like the seat mod and the 11" shocks is the way to go here.
