Default Toru Pack Protection

Hey all,
&nbsp\\; I am seeing if anyone knows of something I can put on top of my Tour Pack to protect it, so I can place a travel bag on it, so it wont screw up my paint. I did not really want to add a luggage rack on it. Trying to get ready for the Sturgis trip coming up.&nbsp\\; Wondering if some sort of rubber mat will protect it without moving around so it wont scuff my lid. Thank you in advance for your help..

IF I were you I would add the premium tour pack rack. It looks better than stock to me and it will keep all luggage from rubbing your tour pack and makes strapping stuff on so much easier. That's just MHO.

I agree with Peppa1. Rack is the way to go. Strapping your stuff down is much easier.They usually comes with a template to drill the holes. Don't forget to put some kind of sealer around the holes so the inside of your tourpack doesn't get wet. I did mine myself and it only took me 1 hr. to install it.

I agree with Peppa, but I would add the new 08 lighted air wing rack and get more lighting to boot

Might I suggest, a rubber type material like drawer liners are made out of, the same stuff is used in truck beds to stop loads from sliding around. Cut apiece to fit over the lid and strap your bag down. Sears sell if for their tool boxes. I would look for the thickest one I could find, so it offers more cushioning. &nbsp\\;

The clear coat on a newer Harley is just a small step above latex paint. If you even think about straping on something, it will see you coming and actually start scratching its self. Go with the rack. A nice rack always looks good on the back of the bike.

Presumably you will need to wrap the entire tour pak with something because you will be wrapping bungee chords around the TP to secure whatever it is you want to carry.&nbsp\\; Personally, I think it will be difficult to reliably do what you want and not do some damage to the finish of the TP, even if it's just disturbing the clear coat from vibration.
&nbsp\\;
Try the luggage rack or a piece of luggage&nbsp\\;designed to&nbsp\\;sit on the passenger seat\\; I believe T-Bag makes one.
