i agree with pococj must have been a defective filter

Reason being there was apparently no top end noise.
Believe me, if you have even a temporary loss of oil pressure, the top end of your engine will sound like it is coming apart!

RE: Did my oil filter cause this?
I have been running this filter on my last 3 bikes for tens of thousands of miles......Wix is 5 times the filter as the harley (champion) filters!!!......You may have got a bad one but it has a bypass in it if it wasnt working properly so you wouldnt loose pressure.....I would not hesitate to put one on anything I own.......

RE: Did my oil filter cause this?
(This was supposed to be posted last night but problems with the site prevented it, I fell asleep, then I was gone all day. I see another response similarly suggests some of the following)
It could not possibly have been the particular tank of gas? If the filter was not working properly it was either flowing too freely or not freely-enough. One would cause low pressure to develop at the gauge and probably too little time anywhere to pick up heat as much heat. The other would cause both higher-indicated pressure and temperature, right? I am going back with the gas on this one instead.
