Default Rider backrest

Got the rider backrest installed on stock 08 Road King, but it is pushing me too far forward. I have it adjusted as far back as it will go. Any suggestions on how to make it a little better?

I put mine in a vice and bent the two arms to where it will lay back more.

Is yours non-adjustable? I had that problem with my non-adjustable one so I took it back and ordered the adjustable one. I get it tomorrow so we'll see. If it doesn't work, then i'm going to give it a little bend in my hydrolic press.

Put a couple of washers under the front bolts of the mounting bracket.

A common problem. As mentioned above, a couple of washers will help a little but not that much. A vise and a big hammer will allow you to bend it back to get you the room you need.

I've had the same problem, and yes I have the adjustable one. As it is now I have to remove the backrest when I throw my son on the back, He carries a few extra pounds around the waiste, my wife of barely a 100lbs can sit back there but has very little to know room availiable. So by bending back the plates or adding washers, be prepaired to sacrifice the already lack of space in the Passenger area on the FLHTC models. Might be a different story without the travel-pak. Yes, It's in the rear postion. So I've thought about removing some of the pad, it's way to thick and I believe I can shave some off. I may take it to a shop to be done. Many choices, glad I'm not alone in this!

Mine presented a similar problem, so I removed the strap that bolts between the frame &amp\\; the tab on the bracket &amp\\; made a longer one.&nbsp\\; With the bracket set as far back as possible the longer strap will allow it to lean back more &amp\\; give you some more room.
