Default Sticky Throttle

&nbsp\\;Any suggestions on how to free up what seams to be a sluggish throttle. I have lubed the&nbsp\\;cables and even had the dealer re-adjust them , but the trottle on my RD King seams very slow to return to zero. It snaps back very slowley, however it does come back all the way. I was wondering if anyone had the same issue and what they did to fix it. Thanks

Don't know what year you have, but&nbsp\\;mine has a little&nbsp\\;throttle device (like a poor man's cruise control) underneath the&nbsp\\;grip.&nbsp\\; Every now and then I will tighten&nbsp\\;it up by accident and I get the same reaction.&nbsp\\;

How old is the cable? Maybe you have a broken wire strand in the cable causing friction.

My Road King had the same issues. Your post doesn't say how old your bike is, but the cure for mine was a new cable. I had mine replaced at about 65,000 miles. It was just worn out.

If your front brake lever assembly is separate from the throttle and switch housing, you may be distorting the trottle and switch housing when ya tighten the brake lever assembly down first.&nbsp\\; Loosen the brake assembly and throttle assembly then retighten the throttle and see if the throttle works properly.&nbsp\\; If it does work properly, make sure the assembly is tight on the handle bars, then tighten down the brake lever assembly.

Have not fixed it yet, but on my 07 RKC that happened (within a week of paying through the nose for a 10k service, mind you) after riding in the rain for about 50 miles the other day. What I do to make it snap right back is to force it closed as hard as it will go (just enough pressure to make it happen). Then it just snaps back closed again like normal for a while. This leads me to believe it is a problem with something that rotates upon something else on one end of the cables or the other\\; not the cables themselves.

Maybe the entire assembly is pushed too far onto the bar?&nbsp\\; Loosen the torx screws just enough to pull it out maybe 1/32 of an inch.&nbsp\\;

Had the same problem with my 96 RK. Dealer lubed it, I lubed it, blah, blah, blah.

Got a bottle of Dri Slide Bike Aid - Problem solved. Put the "hypo" (it's a very slim needle) in as far as I could and shot the stuff through until it started coming out by the carb. Worked it for a minute and it snapped back like it was brand new.
