Bought my new rear tire. Took the tire and rim off of my ultra. I couldn't break the bead on the tire to rim. Do any of you riders change your own tires? How do you break the bead without damage to the rim? Please help.
take em to your local automotive shop and ask them to do it . 10 second job. if they have a rim clamp machine they can easily change them too.then add the dyna beads-inflate and RIDE!

\\;I bought a Mo-mar motorcycle tire changer - It has paid for itself since I bought it two years ago. Works great, fast, and easy.
As the name implys, it won't mar the rims, as no metal touches to wheel.

Well, I have a Coats 220 tire machine in my garage, with a No-Mar conversion and No-Mar bead breaker. The other bead breaker I use sometimes is an old J. C. Whitney bead breaker meant for car tires, and it works great. You just need to be sure that the rim is supported so that the brake rotor(s) can't touch the floor. You're not likely to break the bead by just jumping on it or by hand.
Been there, done that. The vise squeezes both sides at the same time and the tire sides will come together before the bead breaks. Guess I will look at the Harbor Freight machine and also talk to my local tire shop. \\; I would like to do the whole thing myself for the money savings and I could do it at my convenience.

J+P cycles has a bead breaker for around 50 bucks I got one 10 years ago and I have used it a bunch. Works like a giant modified C clamp. that and a couple of tire irons and tubless tires take just a few minutes to change. (once the wheel is off the bike)
+1 for the J P Cycle's item, \\;it is only $36.00. I have used it a few times and it works great. \\;It also \\;helps when you are mounting the new tire also.
For a 1 hour labor charge to take it off, re-place, balance and re-mount it is worth the cost on that one....I do most of my own work, but this one seems worth it...
