Had the same problem with my adjustable back rest.&nbsp\\; Put it in my vice and leaned hard on it.&nbsp\\; That did the trick.&nbsp\\; Good Luck !!

I'm going to give the adjustable one a try before I put it in my hydrolic press.&nbsp\\; If that one isn't any better then i'll go back to the non adjustable one and bend it to fit.

I am 6 foot tall and ride the SG and had the none adjustable back rest and like yourself I hated it. I chanded to the HD adjustable back rest and It has made all of the difference in the world. I love it. The pad is wider and thicker and it will adjust in infinite positions, both forward and back and up and down. Get it you will be happy.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Speckfishser! Can You please give me a close up photo of the back rest?

It may cost an extra penny, but the adjustable backrest is the way to go.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;No complaints here.

I would either use the adjustable or none at all. I'm 6'2" and the adjustable gives me enough range to find a comfortable spot. I'm using the stock seat. While it works for me, it would be best if got a chance to actually sit on one to see if it fits what you're looking for.

I've got the adjustable on my 08 RG stock seat and it's real comfortable. I'm 6'2".
BTW, how do you move it up/down?
Also, can it be removed?
I didn't get any info with it and the Service Manual doesn't cover it.
Any advice is appreciated.

There's a button hidden under the pocket on the backside of the backrest, about in the middle. Run your hand across it and you'll feel it. Push the button and lift up on the pad and it'll raise up to a higher setting. It is removable. Slide you hand down the back of the bracket. Push back on the bracket and slide the backrest out. It's not real easy to do and takes some effort.
I like the adjustable one, but had to put it in a vise and bend the upright back a little. I'm about 6-1 and ride an '07 UC. The HD adjustable has a LOT more padding than the others I've seen out there. Just an observation.

There seems to be lots of folks that swear by back rests. I for one do not. I rode with one all one summer and then took it off and never wanted one again.

I put the non-adjustable on my 08 RKC.&nbsp\\; It felt so far forward that I took it off before I got out of the dealer parking lot.&nbsp\\; I took the screw out of it to let it go as far back as possible (didn't really make much difference).&nbsp\\; I figured I'd force myself to try it for a week.&nbsp\\; Now I absolutely love it.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; I just had to get over the initial shock.&nbsp\\; As much as I like it, I still would recommend the adjustable one for anyone looking to buy.&nbsp\\; Just because I got comfortable with mine doesn't mean someone else will like theirs.

I don't really want one either because I think they are sorta 'grandpa' lookin. But i'm getting bad burners between my shoulders after about an hour of riding and i've tried everything else so I thought i'd give this a try as well. If I didn't get burners there's no way in hell i'd have a backrest. I have the adjustable on order. Should be in on Monday so we'll see.
