Default Wheel bearing replacement/service ?

Got my 2003 FLHTI 3 years ago with 6,000 miles on it. Just hit 30,000. The guy had the 9 spoke chrome Harley wheel on the front when I got it and it has always made a kinda whiney sound when leaning into a curve. It's coming from the front wheel for sure and I'm wondering if it's bad bearings or if it's a normal noise. Also wondering if I should just have them replaced and what it costs. Do we need to periodically have them replaced front and rear? They are moving parts, so they will wear out, but at about what mileage?
Thanks
guys !!!

First of all I would have them checked. I had one go out in Arkansas which cost me two days of my vacation. Not to mention ride time. Second, I use to use Avon tires. Everytime I went into a turn it would wine.JMHO

all you need is a press and a socket to set the bearings. check runout and torque axle then ride!

Your bearings are suppose to last 100K mi.&nbsp\\; It is not a perfect world and I have seen these (other members contacting me) bearings destruct in as little as 5K miles (HD bearings).&nbsp\\; AS rick180 Correctly stated, check it out yourself or a qualified mechanic.&nbsp\\; It will cost much just to change based on a whim.&nbsp\\; Look toward everything that moves for analyzes.&nbsp\\; As far as costs goes, I would hate to estimate.&nbsp\\; Hd usually charges a bunch.&nbsp\\; If you drop off the wheel, they will charge you $75 - $100 /each wheel not including the $25 - $40 / each bearing.&nbsp\\; If you lived closer I would help.&nbsp\\; Unfortunately, these are major components that need a competent technician.&nbsp\\; I doubt that the bearings are the source of the problem but I am here and without seeing it, no one can give you give you the answer.&nbsp\\; Hope this helps you.&nbsp\\;

Hey, thanks guys. I knew I could get answers here. I'm about to buy some other rims, I think, and I'll know then what it was. I appreciate all your input !

I had a noise similar to what you're describing, only when leaned over to turn.&nbsp\\; When I replaced the Dunlop tire with a Metzler, the noise stopped.

Mine does the same.&nbsp\\; If you rub your hand back and forth on the tread the middle is smooth and the eges are not so smooth.&nbsp\\; The tire will "cup" and make some noise when you lean it over good.&nbsp\\; PM me if you are getting rid of the 9 spoke!
