Considering Xied - nightrider
2007 RG stock. \\; Considering in the near future Wild pigs(1.75) slip ons. \\; Been following the threads on Nightrider's xied \\; and 02 ied. \\; Which would I use for my RG - what's the difference?  \\; Is the installation easy as I am not very mechanically inclined. \\; Will nightrider work if I go with high flow \\;AC? Whatif I ad a fuelpak or power commander \\;?
 \\;
Thanks for the help

RE: Considering Xied - nightrider
Installation is easy. Only trouble I had was the wire from the rear 02 sensor was routed under the starter. All I had to do was take off the chrome cover and remove the dipstick and I was able to get at it easily enough. After that it's just a matter of wire tying the XIEDs securely out of the way.
I only put them on a few days ago so the jury is still out, but I swear it seems cooler, runs great too.
 \\; I don't believe you'll need a fuelpack or PC, thats why these things are great, only 100 bucks.
If I understand it correctly, I think you could get a high flow AC and it would work fine. Mine 07Ultra is stock except for slip ons and the IEDs.

I installed XiEDs yesterday...
[ul][*]Super easy \\;- \\;took all of two minutes. \\; \\;Just be sure the bike is cold because it can be tight getting at the O2 sensors and you won't want to \\;contend with a hot exhaust.[*]The X richens the mixture more than the O2. \\; I'm not \\;sure how these work with other mods.[*]Regarding performance, the jury is still out. \\; Throttle response seems better, but things are still hot (the wife complained about her right leg getting hot), but not as bad as they were. \\; Too early to talk about MPG, but my guess is that will drop somewhat given the richer mixture. \\;[/ul]

Put them on my 08' RG. Couldn't really tell any performance gains. Does run somewhat cooler. Gas mileage dropped from 43 on the highway to 40. Dropped about 3 miles per gallon around town as well. Had the same problem getting the rear o2 sensor connector out from under the starter. T.

02 IED = 14.2 AFR
XIED = 13.8 AFR
You will probably throw P131 &\\; P151 codes, at least I am but I am continuing to run them. I will check my mileage this week when I leave on vacation. \\; In the technical fuel injection section of the forum there is a 49 page thread you can read when you ahve a ci=ouple of hours. \\; I measured my rear cylinder with a IR thermometer and it is running about 30 -40 deg cooler.

 \\;Installed \\;the Xied's \\;in less than 5 minuets on Friday. The throttle has a bit more pep and it feels just a bit cooler than before but not much. Only rode about 1/2 tank so I have no opinion on milege yet. I've got the stage 1 download, Rhinehart slip ons', SERT and SE AC on an 07 SG. \\; \\;

Anything that will richen up AFR from 14.6 tp 13.8 is worth it. They have to be resistors in a voltage divider configuration changing the O2 cell signal back to the ECM. Basic Electronics and Ohms Law. Cut em open and you \\;will see. The price is right and install is easy enough.

RE: Considering Xied - nightrider
Put one on my '08 Ultra last week. Have ridden about 500 miles since installation. Observations: runs noticeably cooler, throttle response seems much smoother, gas mileage is reduced, no increase in power. It's not made to increase power, so no surprises there. Mileage decreased, but I don't know by how much because I was after a cooler engine and didn't care about mileage. Throttle response is better when starting out. Installation is very simple...you really cannot install it incorrectly. The toughest part is getting the waterproof connector on rear cyclinder out from underneath it's buried position. Stay with it, but don't force pull on the wires trying to get it out. I am very pleased with the changes it made in my bike. I recommend it. If you are concerned about mileage, they also make a version that riches from 14.7:1 to 14.2:1 that will give a little better mileage than XIED. Obviously, just not as cool as 13.8. BTW, my bike is a stock. If you run into any installation problems (unlikely), Steve (at Nightrider) is a great help.

RE: Considering Xied - nightrider
Installation of the XIED's were the best addition I have made to my stock 08 RG. I was happy with the IED's and even more so with the XIED's. Motor runs much cooler, power is better.By far the best bang for your buck.

You can take all your fuel management \\;add-ons and  \\;overpriced exhaust systems and throw them in the trash. Get a set of the XIED's, plug em in and go ride....
