So the tech who told you to use a T25 gave you wrong informationpersonally, I'd have stopped after the first one or two screws and figured I was having a bad daysorry to hear of your trouble.
&nbsp\\;
Also, you might want to familiarize yourself with the edit function key in your original postthe screws don't suck\\; you just had the wrong tool for the job.

I would have stopped as well, but the first three snapped loose no problem, and I am familiar with editing. I personally still think the screws suck cause there too soft, but I changed the title anyway.

Ultranut, I assume this is your first oil change for the bike. If so, it isn't uncommon for factory bolts to be too tight. Mine was but I had no trouble getting them out. When you reinstalled the derby-cover bolts you should not have had problems with stripping if you use proper torque. Spec on these bolts (screws) is 84-104 in/lb., not ft./lbs., which is very low torque. They are Torx 27, not 25, and if you're using the smaller size that is probably your stripping problem. BTW, there's nothing wrong with Harbor Freight tools, as I have quit a few here including all of my Torx bits. I don't think I've had to return one of these for warranty replacement yet, and they do have a lifetime warranty.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but what about trying Torx Plus bits?&nbsp\\; I understand they will work bettereven in regular Torx fasteners??

Use a little BLUE locktite on the screws and DON'T torque them too tight. You will never have this problem again.
&nbsp\\;
i disagree here.&nbsp\\; i have never had to use loctite on these bolts, always used anti-seize, and never had a problem with them.&nbsp\\; i do agree on not torquing them too tight though.

&nbsp\\;
here is where personal preference comes in.&nbsp\\; i have found that the harbor freight torx bits are of a lower quality and more prone to snap or shred.&nbsp\\; as far as lifetime warranty, i guess thats okay, but the nearest harbor freight is about 50 miles away from me, so i would end up losing the broken bit before i was able to make it over to exchange it.&nbsp\\; and i'm not about to drive/ride that far just to exchange a 1.00 bit.
