Dealers trying to VOID warranties

Dealers trying to VOID warranties
Why does it seem like anything that I want to do ie. tow a trailer, change the exhaust, etc. my dealer says it will void my warranty.
I opted for and purchased the extended warranty but it seems that I must keep the bike completely stock and only ride it on Sunday afternoons. I did purchase some slip om muffers that the dealer sold and they installed, they have refused to do anything about them discoloring, one has turned completely gold from the extra heat.

RE: Dealers trying to VOID warranties
This guy had a brand new \\;08 sporty and took it to the dealership 3 times and told them something was wrong with the clutch. \\; Each time they claimed they fixed it. \\; 3000 miles on the new bike and it has issues again. \\; They told him the clutch was \\;burnt out it's not covered under warranty.

The seat on my 06RG has some stretching at the stitches and the stuffing is showing. \\; It's still within the 2year warranty period, but they say it will depend on the condition of the bike and the miles if they will repair it. \\; I will be taking the bike up to the dealer tomorrow for their evaluation. \\; It's never been layed down, showroom clean and all the maint done on schedule, but with 20K on it. \\; I'm interested in what they have to say.

RE: Dealers trying to VOID warranties
 \\;When I bought my last bike salesman took me in tow to "visit" all the different departments, service guy, (young kid) asks if I bought the extended warranty, "no", well did you buy the service plan? "No, why would I, it's 1700.00 and I do all my own maintenance." He gets this disgruntled look and tells me I'll be voiding my warranty if I do my own maintenance on a new bike, I just looked at him and laughed. Don't they realize they are alienating people when they pull this ****, but they do it because service department is a cash cow, and they try and scare people into bringing \\;their bikes in for routine maintenance or any add-ons by telling them they will be voiding their warranties if they do it themselves, bullshit!. On a lark I called the service dept. and asked them how much to install a few things I had already done, I was blown away by how much they wanted . At least the girls in motor clothes were nice, lol.

That's bullshit, I'd talk to the owner and plainly say you're very dis-satisfied and leaving his shop and not being shy about the petty anti baloney. A part of owning a Harley is making it your own.
 \\;
I take my bike into my local dealer, even though they didn't sell it to me, and they have worked warranty issues happily and totally ignored the PCIII, the aftermarket pipes (that they didn't sell me) and other mods.
 \\;
I admit I don't and didn't buy an extended warranty. Felt like a squeeze play to me. I also do all my own oil changes and 1, 5, and 10K services and no one has made any issues of that either.
