While visiting the Red River (NM) car show last Sat, I found a great place to park my brand-spankin'-new Ultra outa' the sun and under the shade of a tree. Unfortunately, the tree took a whiz on my bike and I now have zillions of tiny droplets of tree sap on the windshield and fairing. Anybody know how to get this stuff off without scratching the plastic or removing paint in the process? I've tried the Harley windshield cleaner....won't touch it. I tried Harley spray wax...no go. I even tried mineral spirits......no results.
I would not use Polishing Compound.
If the sap is dry/hard, try picking it off with your fingernail. If there are too many spots, try Bug 'n Tar remover. Available at your local auto parts store or Walmart.
get some turpentine and try a little on a hidden spot, I don't think it will hurt the paint but I've never tried it on my bike. \\;I have used it to get sap off my truck and it did ok but you might want to try it first where it won't show.
