Brake pads - how tough / options ??? ('05 Ultra)
 \\;
I have an '05 Ultra with allot of city miles. Time to replace the pads.
 \\;
Easy job??? \\; \\; Wheels gotta come off???
 \\;
Harley on line shows this kit below - is this for just one pair or the entire six set???
 \\;
DO I NEED THREE OF THEM???? \\; \\; \\;I think so. \\;
 \\;
Besides OEM, is there something out there that is better???
 \\;
THANKS!!!!!!!!!
 \\;
Dave H.

RE: Brake pads - how tough / options ??? ('05 Ultra)
I'm at a site where I can't really see your links, but as far as changing your brakes goes it is a pretty simple job if you have a little bit of wrench turning in your past. \\; Get a service manual if you don't and just use it... it will show you what to do.. the tools you need.. and the torque specs for the fastners. \\; I just did mine a month or two ago and it was something like 45 bucks per set of two pads... so about 130 bucks for everything.
 \\;
Good luck

When you go to pull the pads back to collapse the caliper pistons, I start with a plastic putty knife and finish collapsing with the two halves of a specially carved clothes pin. Works great and I don't scratch the rotors. If you are looking for aftermarket pads, make sure the word \\;"Sintered" is on the package.

RE: Brake pads - how tough / options ??? ('05 Ultra)
Lyndall Z-pads are not sintered iron, the stock pads are sintered iron pads. The Z-pads will not cover your wheels with the black brake dust like the stock pads do. The Z-pads will also out perform the stock pads. If the search function will work look up Z-pads, there should be lots of posts on them.
 \\;You can go for the sintered iron pads if you wish but the Z-pads are much better.

RE: Brake pads - how tough / options ??? ('05 Ultra)
I just installed the Lyndall Gold plus pads on my 06 Street Glide. Someone posted in this forum that Lyndall was offering a 10% discount on them. I paid $169.00 shipped to my door. Look up the site for the number www.lyndallracing.com Ask for Paul...
This is my second set of Lyndall pads. First set was on my 03 Fat Boy. I thought they were much better than stock (I had no problem in the rain) and no break dust on my rotors or chrome wheels.
I would recommend them....JMHO
