5k miles? You must store tires in your garage.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;

I worry alot about tires. I change mine long before some of my buds do. I would change them both. A rear tire rarely lasts me more than 5,000 miles before I decide it's time for a new one.

Nope, no tires stored in my garage. I ride a bit aggressive, they are worn at 5,000 and bald at 6,000 if I go that far. It's the same reason I only get low 30's for mileage.

&nbsp\\;
I have 20,000 miles&nbsp\\;on my '05 Ultra = on my second rear (1/32" left)&nbsp\\;but still on the original&nbsp\\;front with ~ 1/4" tread.
&nbsp\\;
I "lowered" my scoot with WORKS shocks so the center of gravity shifted rearward thus the accelerated rear vs front wear.
&nbsp\\;
Next week I'm having BOTH replaced.&nbsp\\; Figure three years and 20,000 miles that tire is getting old.
&nbsp\\;
Michelin Commanders next week.

If you're going on a road trip two up, replace both.&nbsp\\; No need to be searching for a front tire on the road.

Have 30,000 miles on front and it still looks okay.&nbsp\\; However, replace rear about every 10,000 miles.

The wife and I are getting ready to do some 2up traveling in July. I am going to replace rear tire (8500 miles on it, had to replace it last summer because of a flat ) but the front tire is showing 4/32 tread depth at 15000 miles. I would rather be safe than sorry. Think I should change it too?
No, the front starts out life with 5/32, so you have plenty to work with.&nbsp\\; I've traditionally gotten 30k+ on a front tire with ample tread remaining.

I'm amazed at how this is even a question. How much do tires cost? What is the average life of a tire(A SAFE TIRE)? Imagine the cost of an accident. We all own expensive bikes with that comes the cost of saftey.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;
