On an FL model the gas cap is under the key-operated door. \\;\\\\\\; Its really easy to miss when you are done fueling you just close the door and go. \\;\\\\\\; And it does not make a splashy mess, but you can smell gas fumes.

This is really hard to believe. How do you miss seeing \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;a gas cap on a harley tank....you better sober up

I can honestly say that I never had that problem on my FL or any of my bikes for that matter.

I ride a Ultra Classic which has a door over the gas cap. No gas ever spilt out with the door shut. However, I was getting near to the Tail of The Dragon and I sure wanted a gas cap. I have switched from placing the gas cap from "on the pump" to "on the seat".
