Chain slapping noise inside primary
Just noticed this last week when we were on vacation. At low speed acceleration in stop and go traffic I hear the chain slapping or rattling inside the primary. Hadn't done any low speed stop and go prior to then so I don't know if this is something new or not. Any ideas???

 \\;He said something about the possibility of the compensator nut (I think) not being torqued correctly.

Were you working the clutch in and out when you heard the noise or was the clutch all the way out? I can get my 08 SG to make a similar noise when working the clutch creeping along. Please Keep us posted.

Actually I heard it when I was working the clutch. Don't think it did it with the clutch released.

Might also be the primary chain needs to be tightened. Do the 08's have an automatic chain tensioner? If so, it might not be doing the job right. Anyway, it's pretty easy to check and adjust....

Hey Steve,
 \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\; I would tend to think its the primary chain adjuster come loose. \\;\\\\\\; Though its an easy thing to check and adjust, its to bad you would have to have it sit in a shop to fix.

As long as it is under warranty I'm gonna let them deal with it Ken. That way if there is more to it than that, or if any damage occurred it is on the MoCo's dime. Not mine. I'm in pretty good with the local dealer. They are taking it in and looking at it right away. Should only be down for a few days. Besides with my work schedule it would be next weekend before I could have a look at it.
