I don't have mine here with me but I remember it said something like "if you don't have a torque wrench, 1/4 turn past finger tight". In other words, don't crank too hard.
I use 15 FT LB, and be sure to use a LITTLE never-sieze on the threads. It'll keep you from galling the threads and make plug changes MUCH easier later on.

Good advice. Using anti-seize on the threads is especially important with aluminum heads.
