I had heated grips on my 98 RKC and loved them. I am wondering if I would still need them since my new Ultra batwing will block wind from hitting my hands. Or does the wind still hit?

RE: Heated grips
I bought Gerbing heated jacket liner and gloves last year, but I used the heated grips more in the fall when it was warm during the day and got cold on the ride home. I would not have my heated gloves with me all the time or maybe would not want to stop to put them on, especially with a group.

RE: Heated grips
What I love about heated grips is that I very rarely wear gloves anymore. If I do, I can wear a thin leather glove thatlets the heat come through, and you don't have to give up feel with a big thick glove. I have a set of heated glovesand they are way to thick to be comfortable for me. With a heated jacket and heated grips it is a lot more pleasant.

I have an 08 Electra Glide with the Harley heated grips. I just came home Saturday from a 5K mile trip out west which included the states of NM, WY, NV, UT and CO. I used the heated grips in all of these states.
There is plenty of wind coming around the fairing to warrant grip heaters.
My gloves are unlined non-insulated deer skin gloves. On two mornings, it was 35F or less. The grip heaters kept my hands comfortable.
