The sixth gear is great while on the highways. The only problem is the lack of power over 60 mph. You will find yourself shifting to a lower gear to find an acceptable acceleration rate. This engine was built to be upgraded. I am not sure how many stock Harley’s are out there, but I highly recommend upgrading the horse power for better performance. Source:
Is this true? With all the positive, I guess every bike does have some negatives.
I dont agree with this. I run 2 up at 80 mph in 6th all the time. She has power bone stock. 6th gear is way to high for 60 mph. I use 5th up to about 70-75 mph, then 6th over this speed.

First, I bought my 08 Ultra because of the color....didn't realize it was an annaversary model until later.

Second, I only have a Stage-1 on my Ultra (Vance and Hines slip ons, SE A/C, and SERT). I use 6th gear from 70 mph and on, even 2 up 6th has reasonable pulling power I almost never have to shift down to pass unless traffic dictates a quick pass, or I'm pulling a fairly steep grade....and I do most of my riding between 4,000 and 8,000 feet elevation.

But get the SG, you won't be disappointed.
Yes, I think after the price shock, I will be happier in the long run and perhaps save the pain of trading up down the road. One concern I do have is with the following statement...

I don't have this problem whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I haven't had a single problem with this bike. Not one!

If I was in your neck of the woods and wanted a bike I'd check out this place in NJ. there supposed to be given big discounts see link. https://www.hdforums.com/m_3450320/tm.htmMy 08 Road Glide does great in 6th gear. I hit 6th around 70-75 and she pulls strong till I shut it down around 90. It will run 80 all day long in 6th. The acceleration isn't as strong as in 5th but usually it's good enough. Good luck you cant go wrong with a touring bike from Harley. They ride great.

If mama didn't ride sometime I would probably have gone with the SG and the anniversary colors would be the way to go. I like 2 tone bikes, solids just don't trip my trigger !!! Even if the dealer won't throw in the cruise he can add it for you for next to nothing. Go for it, but get the cruise one way or the other, it sure is nice to free up the right hand occasionally.

Street Glides are incredible bikes. Get the one with the features you want, color doesn't matter, they all look killer once you put your personality on it.

I'm not a fan of the duracell colors so this would be a no brainer for me. I wouldn't buy the copper top for 5K but that isjust my opinion. Buy what you really like. It's yours! Who cares what I or anyone else think

If it were me I'd get the coppertop. The seat is the same as on a sharkie and I find mine to be the first-ever stock HD seat that is comfortable. Love that panel insert, maybe do something along the lines on mine next winter. Years ago, when shopping for my Dakota, I found a used one in "Amber Fire" just couldn't put the deal together. In 2003 there were way too many silver/blacks, now they're barely noticed. The 95th champagne/maroon combo still looks good to this day. Regarding the cruise, are you really going to use it? I have yet to turn on my cruise after one year! Never used it on my last car either, wish the truck I have now had it about twice a year. You make the call, just my .02

Two tone seat.
Not a factor if you change seats, which most people do. It does look nice, though.

Copper emblems.
Subjective.

Easier to keep clean vs. black.
So is any color other than black.

Chrome bag latch. Less scratches.
Didn't know they were chrome, but I wouldn't say that's a factor unless you drop it often. But if you do it's going to scratch anyway since the SG has no saddlebag guards, in which case lots of expensive things will scratch. (You can install them later, of course.)

Lower production #with this paint combo on the road.
Means nothing, IMO.

Dealer will knock off $1,000 with no hassle. Sure it could be pushed further.
Now that sounds like a winner. Would he knock of that much for another color that costs less? At $1000 off MSRP wouldn't it be about equal to any other color?

Come resale time, will others want it?
Sure, it's a Harley. More than some other color? I doubt it.

Doesn't have cruise control or alarm. Black one does.
You'll want CC anyway, so plan on installing if it isn't already present. You'll pay for it either way. For me the alarm is not a sales incentive, and when I bought my '07 I was glad it wasn't installed. Too potentially problematic, IMO.

The bottom line is if they're coming off $1k from MSRP on the anniversary model and not other color schemes, it is good if you like the color.

Everybody don't have to have the same color. If you like it yer the eyes of the beholder.
The street glide would be a nice bike. The bags are nice. The only draw back on the street glide is it doesn't have crash bars for the saddle bags. YOU may want to have some added. Twist the salesman arm dude. Give him a hard time trying to close the deal. Make him deal with you.
Even look at another dealer and see what they will offer you, let them know yer lookin at a bike at another dealer too. See if they will offer you anything that the other dealer won't.
Saddle bags on touring bikes are great for carrying things and being able to lock them up.
Do you ride solo a lot ? If not yer probaly gonna want a Tour Pack later on.
You will like the touring family and the fairing.
