Another matter of opinion on my Street Glide.....
You road cats have been the coolest so far, so I just have to ask another opinion here. I have a Street Glide in Black Pearl which we all know appears as more grey than black and in the sun looks like there are diamonds in the paint.....anyhow, I am a painter by trade and was debating a graphic scheme. I am thinking a Hotrod-style flame job pinstriped in silver with the center of the flames done in a "marbelized" look in silver and pearl white. I think it would be subtle enough, ut just enough to totally be different than the rest of the Glider crowd. Any takes?

I like the idea! You being a pro, have a better idea than myself. My suggestion would be to go lite on the flames. Not on top of the tank at all, just diagonal on the sides of the tank and saddlebags. I would only do a short area on the fenders. The fairing is a hard one. so much tempting area. I really like the color of the black pearl and would hate to see you cover up too much of it. Flames on a bagger can overcome the bike in a hurry. I think it sounds cool and I believe you could pull it off. I would stick with the SG theme of less is more with your flames. Just my opinion!

Gene,
I totally get where you're coming from....I was only going to flame out the sides of the tank, saddles, and a small middle section of the rear fender. Possibly a swooping burst up the sides of the fairing and an accent on the side panel covers. But in truth, you are right about the less is more...after all, that's why I liked the bike in the first place....but damn it, I just can't leave anything alone.

Got an airbrush artist down the road and he does REAL FLAMES. Right now he is just completing a Dodge Caliber and a H3 Hummer (both black). This stuff looks wild, like it is actually on fire, it has that much detail. If I decide to paint, i'm gonna go with that!

RE: Another matter of opinion on my Street Glide.....
I wanted to add ghost flames on my Vivid Black SG but after pricing it out I decided to spend the money on add-on/bolt on items as opposed to just paint alone. I wanted some flames in silver and dark gray with a splash of red in there. I knew what I wanted I just couldn't make it look right on paper.
I'm sure there is someone out there with graphics or flames painted on their SG but to the best of my knowledge no one here has anything like that on their 'Glide. With that being said, you would definately have a looker and a "stand out bike" if you had some flames on her.
So in my humble opinion - do it! I would if I had the talet and ability to paint. He!! I can't even draw a dam* stick man to save my life

I am over flames on Harleys. Most of them look like crap in my opinion. Some other accent design might look good but flames are overdone. Black pearl is a really nice color, I would never put flames on it.
