detachable tour pack on Ultra? How to do it???
I have an '05 Ultra Classic. I love it, but for around town I want the tour pack to be detachable. I found a detachable tour pack in the accessories catalog and a light relocation kit for the radio, etc. However, there is nothing I can find that will allow you to still use the CB if the tour pack is removed.
So, how do I install a detachable tour pack set-up and still retain the radio and CB. If I have to loose the CB with the pack removed, then so be it.
One more question, if the tour pack is removed, what do you do with the CB cable???

Unhook the Radio antenna and roll it up under the seat. Put a small floppy $15 antenna inside the fairing tie strapped sideways to some of the cables over the radio.
The CB antenna cable goes under the seat also, as does the power wire for the lights and the speaker cables.
If you look were the wires go into the rear speaker pods, you'll see a plastic gromet around them. Remove the gromet first then carefully pull out the speaker plug. Unplug it, roll up under the seat, and you're good to go.
If you wish to reduce the amount of wiring going under the seat, you can buy plugs and make the connections under the seat, leaving more wire with the disconnected tourpac.
Remove the leather strap from the seat and don't reinstal it as with the chrome passenger grab bar handles if you have them.
Get a thumb screw to replace the phillips head screw that hold the rear of the seat, HD has one for $10 or so.

Yup, you lose the CB. I put a hidden FM antenna in the fairing, tuck all wiring under seat and side cover. You need the tour pack bracket, part #53276-04 and docking hardware #53804-06. The bracket runs about $180 and the docking kit is $55. I would advise against the lay-back license plate bracket. With the tour pack installed, the plate is obscured. I was stopped by a LEO for this. Regular plate bracket went back on before I went to court...

My Dealer charged me 1.25 hrs at $70 per hour = $87.50
I even bought the detachable hardware & the rack mount at another Dealer
that was having a 20% off day and got BOTH for under $200.
