The oil comes out.
The lowers stay attached.
You will need a large wrench/socket for the top nut (can't recall the size currently).

RE: Harley low profile front end kit....?
I just installed the Profile Low kit on my RKC, It was pretty straight forward except for the fact that the Road Kihgkit comes with a Cartridge assembly for the left side fork, The Right side is the Normal Spring/damper setup, But the left side is Completely and totally different, There is no possible way to install the spring in the left fork without the proper tools, But I did help a buddy of mine install his lowering kit in his SG and It was a piece of cake, Pull forks, Pull springs, Install new springs, Add oil, install forks, Easy, On a scale of 1-10 it was a 4 or 5. Just be careful taking the front fender off. It can get banged up pretty easy if your not careful.

RE: Harley low profile front end kit....?
Stopped by the dealer at lunch. I asked about the procedure and he asked what I was lowering. I told him my 08 Ultra and he stated that the forks had to be disassembled to change the springs. i asked him to define "disassembled" and he said "where you can hold it up and look through it. Not sure if I want to get into all of that. I asked how much they would charge to install it for me and they said 4 hours ($280). Then I went inside and talked to the sales manager who is the same height as me and owns an Ultra. He said he only swapped out the rear shocks and never lowered the front. He said that was all I needed to do. So, now I have a decision to make. Do the work myself and waste a whole day, or pay the dealer $280 ($305 with tax) and drop it off in the morning and pick it up on my way home.

Jimmy you should sit on a streetglide thats the ride height you will get lowering the rear only with harley rear shocks. If you find that the streetglide front is still too high then lower the front. Puzzled's pics are excellent if you are changing to chrome lowers only. They miss showing how to remove top caps and and remove from triple tree. Important... there are 2 different style lowering kits for the front. Harley style =total disassemble or Progressive=drop in springs only. Burly Brand has a drop in kit, go to their website and watch video of sexy chick install on sporty. Same concept but since you have an ultra a few more steps. $280 is a lot of loot, I think you can do it no prob with our guidance. step 1. jack up bike and remove negative from battery. step 2. remove brakes zip tie calipers to crash bar make sure no-one pulls in brake lever or you'll be learnin how to do brakes! step 3. remove front wheel step 4. remove front fender "be careful dont scratch paint!" step 5. remove outer fairing. at this point see if you can get a crows foot on top cap of fork tube and loosen part-way. At this point puzzled pics will all make sense. Good luck! If you need help come back to this thread.
