Default how to eliminate oil mess with bike lift?

o.k i just changed the oil in the rkc last last. this was the frist time that i have ever changed my own oil. i have a motorcycle jack that i used. Here is my question, how in the he11 do you get a pan to sit under the jack? my jack has a couple of angles bars that run right below the drain plug. what does everyone else use? i also bought one of those black plastic oil filter oil change helpers. and i thought that it sucked! instead of the oil going down the side that it was supposed to, it just ran over the back side closest to the filter. just wondering if i just dont know what im doing or what everyone else does

Leave the bike on the jiffy stand, where it belongs, when you drain the oil. Should be no mess then!

Yep.. leave the bike on the ground. Use the cardboard box the new filter came in to channel the old oil when you remove the old filter. Just mash it flat, along the crease lines, then stick it under the old filter before you unscrew it.

All good info above. You can't drain your oil when it's on a lift.

You can drain it on this kind of lift! I do it all the time.

I use a plastic paint roller tray. Works perfectly.

I use the long cardboard box that a 12 pack of Coke comes in to create a funnel to put under the oil filter to channel the oil away from the bike into a pan. Did not get a drop of oil on the bike from the filter. I also drain the oil while it is on the stand.

I'm using a one liter plastic soda bottle cut in half length wise, slip it under the oil filter - works better with the bike on the stand, not the lift
