I understand that, and agree, especially on a bike with both the batwing AND fairing lowers.

BUT...

My primary noise didn't start until after the rebuild. They borked something while they were jackin around inside the case.

I can live with the ticking sound (loud lifter noise), but that damn primary whine (even at low speeds) is embarrassing. Sitting still with the clutch pulled in, revving the motor and letting the RPM's settle back down to idle...the thing sounds like a dove coo'ing at you.

 

Sounds like this may be a normal noise that I need to get used to. I didnt consider the fairing trapping the sound. My brother traded in a softail and I traded in a wide glide so both of us are not used to fairings.

 

If you are running it under 2k, then you would be more or less lugging it, especially in 5th. I keep the rpms in the 2500-3k range, no noises present that shouldnt be there.
