Default Speed Limiter at 105 MPH?

Is there any sort of speed limiter on the 96" motor bikes? I know that there is a REV limiter but my Road King seems to hit awall at 105 MPH.

I have a '07 FLHR with stock motor, Arlen Hess Big Sucker air cleaner, slip-on mufflers, and a Cobra Fi2000r fuel processor (closed loop). The odd thing is that at 105 MPH the bike seems to be limited although I am unable to hear of feel either an ignition cut-out or a de-fueling. The strange part is that it will do 105 MPH in either 5th or 6th gear![:-] Now I could understand that perhaps the Road King is just plain "out of power" at that speed but it seems really odd that it will achieve the same top speed in either gear.

I'll take your word for it....I don't want to go that fast on two wheels!

It is about all a stock 96" will do. If you do a cam swap with your slip-ons, air cleaner, and fuel programmer (provided its tuned properly) you can get a little more out of it.

The reason it goes the same speed in 5 and 6 is because the engine doesn't have enough power to push the bike in the higher gear.

The lower gear ratio of the 5th gear provides more torque muliplication and is usable to a higher RPM than the 6th gear.

Bottom line is the stock 96 doesn't have enough power.

It's factory installed to keep Floridians unable to read speed limit signs from losing their bikes.

This is on the track RIGHT. If not, yes, the connection is between theseat and the handlebars. Mostkick in around 85-90.Each to their own but, others may pay.
