There is definitly no speed limiter on my 2010 glide. I've had if flirting with a hundred on occasion. But on the dyno with no wind resistance ,130+ came pretty quick and it was alot easier hold on to.

OOHH MYYYY !!! This thread started 05/28/2008 and after 17 pages there STILL people who doesnt understand the original QUESTION!?!?!?!?!?!? .......IS THERE ANY SORT OF SPEED LIMITER ON THE 96" HARLEYS???......

NO THERE IS NO SPEED LIMITER IN 96" BIKES!!!!!!!..AND NOOO HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOUR RIDING SPEED,SOO WHY ARE SOME PEOPLE INTRESTED ALL THE TIME, IN TEACHING US AT WHAT SPEED SHOULD WE GO OR IF WE "HAVE" TO WEAR HELMETS OR IF ITS SAFE OR NOT,,HE IS JUST ASKING A SIMPLE SHORT QUESTION AND THE ANSWER IS "NO" JUST "NO"!!!...

hahahahah,,,i cant believe how much i like this forum! love for all!! cheers!!
He was told NO back on about the first or second page, the rest is just a bunch of preaching on how the rest of us should ride our bikes. Turns out I am irresponcible and a danger to society. I'm really bummed about it. most of these people would tell you that a 800 LB. bike at 100 MPH is more dangerous than a loaded semi barreling down the pike at 75 or 80 MPH.

You guys are too funny, but I have also been too fast on 2 wheels. Coming out of Flagstaff, AZ this spring they were expecting FEET of snow that afternoon. It was 20* out with 30 MPH winds. I was so frozen I didn't care anymore, so I twisted on my rented EG Classic to 115 MPH. My thoughts were, the faster I get to warmth the better it is.....

This was the best my bike could do, no matter what gear I tried and I tried to get it to go faster for quite a while. No passenger but about 100 lbs of gear

Bit of a generous generalisation but I understand the point you are trying to make.

Having ridden extensively on the continent, living in the UK and travelled to US loads my observations / opinions are:

Roads are in perfectly comparable shape in US

Lane discipline is virtually non existent in US

I regularly ride at 90 on motorway in UK and at that speed I am "in the flow". I am happy to go over a ton but generally don't out of choice

Personally I think the lower speeds in the US are actually more dangerous. One's level of concentration and alertness is much higher at 75 to 80mph rather than 60. I believe around 80 is the optimum for safe road conditions, but just my own personal opinion

110 on the fatbob, 151 in my old camaro, 165 on my tricked out GSXR 750, and 182 on my 2006 Busa LE. (all on the track of course. )

Flat ran out of horses...
can't run too.. fast....I hate anything under 80mph.....after 3 or 4 hours....80 seems slow...
I use to love riding in Montana, for years there was no daytime speed limit, then when forced to by the feds....Montana said sure....56 mph to 256mph....5 dollar fine, payable on the spot...kept a 5 in my pocket, never needed it...even now you can blast by MSP at 85mph...no problem....
Sturgis runs...20 for me...go through the whole state, east to west...damn thats fun

2010 RG Custom, live in Montana where you have wide open spaces and little traffic, regularly ride over 100, never had a problem going over 105, no limiter on my bike, max I have seen is 115, still had throttle left. Bike is 103 with 255's no 96.
No not an organ donor and i don't wear a helmet.

First car was a '63 BelAir 283. First bike was a Yamaha Twin Jet 100.
Fastest car was a '66 Olds 442. Fastest bike was a Yamaha xs1100 @ 135 mph.
Many cars, Suburbans, and bikes in forty years.
At least once, I found out how fast each one would go. Just for sh*ts and giggles if for no other reason. My '75 T150 will take me to 120 without a windshield.
A nephew's Honda 900 crotch rocket took me up to 145, and I had two gears left to go before I backed off. That's the fastest I've ever gone.

I do know my Ultra goes a lot faster with a 4" windshield than the stock 12", but it takes a couple of miles to get there, and it'll do 110 indicated on the speedometer. That was on a brand new blacktop, straight as an arrow, with no traffic. I felt a heckuva lot safer than riding in Mpls traffic at 60 mph.
