I like mine, have had no real problems other than a dead battery, I find it helpful when stopped for gas, etc to do a quick temp check and after bike sits to check oil level with out having to risk dripping oil on hot exhaust, burning hand on exhaust. I would not have paid retail price a little to pricey for me but I found a good deal on Ebay.

Most are getting them wet when washing the bike so as long as you only ride in sunshine with low humidity with it covered in plastic it should work great.

Mine works fine. I've had it for two years. The only complaint I've had is that you have to wait about 5 minutes to get the oil level after stopping. Does give the temp immediately though. It does seem like an added expense for the luxury of being able to check oil temperature. I guess the MOCO felt that I would enjoy the useful information of what the ambient air temperature is inside my fairing.

They can also get stolen easily.

Oh yeah, that's right Tex. I used to haul my old dipstick with me just in case. thanks for reminding me. t'would be a bummer to lose one on day one outbound on a two week ride and not have a replacement with me.

I was determined tospend the $$$ for oneuntil I read the (mostly) negative comments and that pretty much did it for me. I'mrunningsynthetic oil, keeping it in the wind, so to speak, and not worrying about oil temps until such time as Harley "gets a grip" and makes available a dependableanalogue oil temp dipstickthat is RELIABLE.

I have had mine for about 2 years with no problems but I dont use a pressure washer and I dont use an air blaster to dry, I think this is where a lot of the problems come from.
