Cam choice for 03 Roadking 95" Big Bore
I have a 03 TC Roadking Classic that has a Big Bore Kit 95" from HD installed.
Has Reinhardt True Duals, SE Breather, SE 203 cams.
Was quickly tuned in NH 6 yrs ago. Power Commander 3
Want to replace the Cam plate to be Hyd. and figured that this is my chance to change the Cams. Any suggestions?
I always ride solo, City/ country roads, Highway touring at times. 70-80 mph.

I have these cams (se203) in combination with SE ignition module, Mikuni HSR-42 and SE clutch spring in my 2000 Dyna 95ci, its a beast, I feel very, very happy with that combo. I first ride the cams with factory carb and you can feel the improvement, but when the Mikuni was installed it turned in another bike, she has power everywhere in the power band.
Obviously, there a lot of cams out there that will provide much more power than the 203, but the most majority of them has much more lift than your valve springs can handle, so you have to upgrade your springs or change your heads to 2006 or later. In addition, you will have to increase your compression ratio because of the late closing event of intake valve on high performance cam which will bleed your compression. I have a late closing cams in my 2012 Road King which is also a beast, but I had to do a LOT of engine and drivetrain modifications and love it.
So in addition to parts and machine shop work prices, if you don't do the mechanical work by yourself, your will need a big wallet because if it will be impacted heavily, but if you don't have concern with that you have a good chance to make it a big and interesting project, otherwise, my suggestion is to stay with the 203's, install what I have in my combo. My two cents, feel free to PM me I do all mechanical work and engineering calculations.

I have to agree, the cams you have are great all around performers. The only way I'd consider changing them is if your going bigger displacement or getting into the heads more....especially both.
