I just got my bike back from the Sabine Performance DYNO shop in Dallas (http://sabinperformance.com) and BOY-O-BOY I couldn't be happier. This is soooooo much better than I expected.
MY GOAL:
Low end TQ on a BUDGET.
Here are my MODS:
2005 FLTRI
95" TC; SE Flat Top Pistons
Arlen Ness Big Sucker
D&D 2.5" slip-ons
Andrews TW26a Cams
PCIII USB (w/ Rev extender)
Stock ECM
Stock Heads
Stock Rods
RESULTS:
98.1 TQ
81.8 HP
Did I do good or WHAT??? (er....I mean with PhilM's help of course
) The thing that I noticed most is my 2.5k to 3k RPM range. I enter 90 about 2750 and I hit mid 90s about 3k. I think I reached my goal of low end TQ on a budget!
MAP LEGEND
Green is baseline with Big Sucker, D&D exhaust, and PCIII only! generic MAP; 88"; stock Cams
Red is pre-tuned generic MAP for 95" and TW26a cams
Blue is post-tuned custom MAP with above specs (After DYNO)

Wait until you do the heads, then you will crap your pants.

HP = 88.43
TQ = 91.63
I put the pipes, air cleaner, and PC on myself last summer. Had the engine work done during the xmas break and used my tax refund to pay for it. Had it done by the local HD dealer. Don't care much for the dealership as a whole, but I do like and trust the service manager and the mechanics. They used a map they downloaded from PC that was close but had a Woods cam. They didn't want to do the dyno 'til I broke it in again. It had a big hole in the 2400-2900 RPM range, then it would break your neck. I got a lot of it out but finally got the dyno tune done last week (3,000 miles later). Sweet! I'm tickled with the power and the smoothness of the curves. It's a real joy to ride now. I was hoping for 90 HP and didn't miss by much. I've never had a flash or bumped the rev limiter, but based on the curves, if I did, I probably would have gotten the 90 HP out of it. I don't see the need on a bagger though.
I'm adding an oil cooler as soon as it arrives. Next xmas, I'm probably going to invest my tax return in a 6 speed and maybe a set of gear driven andrews cams.

Okay.....What is the reason the '05 heads are different or more restrictive than previous versions? Some sort of smog law crap or?
I was under the impression -- maybe wrong -- that the '06 heads were changed and more restrictive.
I guess I'll investigate.
I just sent a set of heads out for porting -- should get a 30% increase in flow. I expect to have at least a square....100/100 min.
