Default Cruise Control - Possessed!!!!!

Something is f'ed up with my cruise control. I set it and - on its own - it slowly increases speed 20+ mph!!! I tap the brakes, front and/or rear to disengage and it doesn't disengage. I shut off the power (toggle switch on dash) to the cruise and it still stays on. I can get it to disengage by blipping the throttle a few times. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks for the help,
RJ

PR - has this happened to you before? Seems odd that - that would cause the bike to do what I described. I will check it out.

Is that factory cruise? I would have the dealer check it out if it's under warranty. I thought the cruise was bad on my Impala....sounds like yours is worse!

Yes it is factory but my bike is an 04 so no warranty. I'll start with the cables.....my service manual and a big cup of coffee.

Had a hard time to get mine to release. I took it to the dealer and talked to thetech He said that the throttle cables on bike with cruse are a little more sensitive for some reason
Took him about 3 min to fix no charge never had a problem till we gotcaught in a bad down pour on hot day guess cable shrunk a little no problem now

RJ: Here's a link to the DIY part of the Forum that gives the HD Electrical Diagnostic Manual's procedure for using codes to determine problems with cruise control.

https://www.hdforums.com/m_104421/tm.htm

From what you described, "possessed" is an accurate description--hope you get it figured out.

If you are hitting the brakes or even turning the thing off and it wont respond.....The unit is junk! Dont use it or disconnect it before it puts you in a situation.
