I recently purchased a Garmin 2820 for my Ultra Classic. This unit, along with the Zumo is specifically recommended as appropriate for motorcycle use. However, fairly often now when I hit a bump, the unit reboots. The screen goes black, reboots, and then returns to the route it was on when it went off. On relatively smooth roads, no problems. Worst, it seems I always hit a bump or two in cities just as I'm about to hit a crossroad and really need the unit to work. Any ideas what could be causing this?Do any of you with GPS's experience occasional shut downs like this when hitting rough roads?
I've had a Garmin Quest II on my bike for 2 years and never had it do that.
I just updated the maps on it too so I won't need a new one for a year or 2. Wouldn't leave home for a trip without it.
I have to agree, you have a power problem. It would be inside
the unit itself because the battery would engage if there was
a temporary main power supply issue.
Did you buy it locally? Failing that get a hold of Garmin for
repair options.
