Mine isn't an Ultra, but I didn't want to buy a new bike. Changing it isn't a big deal, it's definitely a DIY project. I didn't change the fenders (just took off the bumpers). When I take my wife riding, it takes me about 15 minutes to change the windshield and deflectors, put my Corbin touring seat on, and put the Tour Pak on the detach mount (she doesn't like the Sidekick seat). Feels like two different bikes.

stripped mine to a streetglide and couldn't be happier...only bought my 06 Ultra for my passenger and now she doesn't ride much anymore so I removed tourpak and put Hogtune speakers in my front lowers hooked up to rear wires.........with the true duals and S&S SPO mufflers with a stage one download we are talking cherry here..........not to mention how much easier to handle and so much lighter

I guess this goes into the catagory of, "best laid plans". \\; I didn't buy this bike. \\; After a month of grinding this guy down on his price I went to do the deal on the 2007 Electra Glide Ultra Classic FLHTCUI and we get almost done and the guy says he has to collect another $1100. in tax for the state. \\;He's a private party not a dealer and had I done this the DMV here would have hit me for another $1100 plus back fees (the bike is a salvage bike).
 \\;
All is not lost. \\; I was in the Arlen Ness Showroom in Dublin, CA earlier this week and there was a brand new looking FHLX. \\; I got closer to it and it was better than new. \\; It sported billet wheels from PM, upgaded brakes, \\;Reinhardt True Duals, and I could tell the cases had been split (new gaskets). \\; I hit the ignition switch, 864 miles... \\; Interesting. \\; I asked the salesman about the bike. \\; He told me it was on consignment for one of Cory's friends \\;who wanted a \\;Ness Bike.
 \\;
The engine he told me had been given the 110 inch screaming eagle kit at point of sale and the pipe, and assorted smog treatment had been done and the race tuner had been done as well as a $4000 stereo up grade. \\; I did the math in my head and asked the guy how much... \\;
 \\;
Well it was a lot, but alot less than the guy spent to build it and it was exactly what I wanted anyway. \\; The guy is in a rock band here in the bay area and currently touring in Europe (Cory has pretty interesting friends) \\; His book keeper sent the bill of sale out overnight on Friday and it should be \\;back on Monday or Tuesday. \\; With luck I'll be on my new street glide next week. \\;

Well, I bought the Street Glide. \\; I added a detachable Tour Pak and an extra comfy seat for 2 up riding. \\; Put an electronic antena in the fairing and got rid of the back antena, I found no sound difference there. \\; Now, if I know I'm going to be around home within 100 miles I leave it stripped and low seat. \\; Now if not I put the TP on and rock and roll. \\; I have found that I enjoy the TP emensly. \\; It is great to have room to pack a bunch of crap especially when the little bride calls and wants something on your way home. \\; Either way, I enjoy the 2 different looks but mostly I like the capabilities that the TP gives me. \\; It stays on more than off. \\;

Are you sure that is all that happened to this bike?
I seen this bike too for sale but I think the price is too low

I love the look of \\;the FLHX Street Glide but can't find one I like for the price I want to pay. \\; I have found a 2007 FLHTCUI for a screaming deal that was stolen, dropped and has a salvage title. \\; The bike was \\;fixed and has about 1500 \\;miles on it. \\;
At 42 I'm not ready for a dresser but I'm sure in the coming years the tourpac will make sense (maybe). \\;
Stripping the FLHTCUI seems pretty straight forward but I'm wondering if any of you have done a similar conversion and how it might look now? \\; Photos, suggestions?

Here is mine with just the simple tour pak un install. \\; Takes about 30 mins to take it off and about the same to put it back on. \\; I did miss the rear speakers and the storage though. \\; I put it back on after about a 300 mile run.

RE: Who's done this... 2007 Electra Glide Ultra Classic FLHTCUI to a Street Glide look?
Got an 07 Ultra. used all of the storage that it had pretty much to haul rain gear etc around.  \\; Never rode 2 up. never much needed the rear speakers. \\; never used the intercom or CB.  \\; Front lower fairings off most of the year.  \\;
Had a very nasty accident a month ago where I broke my collar bone, fractured 5 ribs and partially collapsed my right lung. \\;
Bike thought it was Mary Lou Retton and did a double triple flip flop tumble down the road. \\; The TOPS of things were scratched and damaged. \\; Needless to say, the bike was in fact totaled. \\; \\; Tour pack torn off, bat wing ripped apart and torn off. \\; Pretty much everything with paint scratched or damaged except for the front tins.
I am going with a street glide for the replacement bike. \\; \\; I stated things I didnt use on the ultra in the first paragraph. \\; For me it is easier to install a solo seat, and detatchable tourpack in the future if I crave the additional storage. \\; BTW, \\; I still have the lowers as they were in the garage at teh time of the accident and insurance didnt want them as they werent installed at the time. \\; A little paint and I can Upgrade the SG to similar status as my riding desires change.
So that was my experience. . .your mileage may vary.
Oh and I am healing up nicely. \\; \\; 6 inch plate attached to my collar bone now and 11 screws holding it together. \\; Ribs are healing up slowly and 95% of the bruising is now gone. \\; Road rash . . \\; never enough to get excited about so its all healed. Worst spot was left elbow and that was the size of a dime.
