Default PCIII, DFO???

I currently have the Stage 1 kit with the SE Slash-down pipes. I have a set of Thunderheaders (2-1) on order, should get them by the time I get back from my trip this week (Friday).

Do I need to change anything after setting up the T'header? Can I run it like with the current settings until I decide what to do?

I'm contemplating a Power Commander, DFO, or SERT, which do people think would be better? (I'm sure that's going to open a can of worms!)

I would guess the majority of people are going to go tell you to go with the SERT. I do not have experience with it but I do have a PCIII. I installed it myself, downloaded the map from the web site and really like the results. I will probably get it dyno tuned this summer. I really like the ease of the PCIII and I like working on my own bike.

PCIII or SERT are both good units.

I think the decision depends more on which unit your
tuner is well versed and most comfortable with.

I love my RevTech DFO. It really made a big difference all around. Only $165 and don't need a computer to tune it.

Screaming Eagle Race Tuner is exactly what it says....it's a race tuner. If your motor is stock, except for the breather and pipes...then I would go with the PCIII. I have the PCIII on my Ultra and it's got all the maps available for almost every combo of parts and breathers. If you add parts later....you can just upload a new map and your done.

Good luck.

Shop the internet....you can find some good deals on the PCIII.

What about a Vance & Hines Fuel Pack? Have you considered that?

Good advice. Would the SERT work though for now? I'm planning on bumping up to 95" this year, and having the heads ported (possibly by Big Boyz, or Dewey if he's still doing them)

I haven't really heard anything all that great about the Fuel Pak, tda. If I knew more about it maybe I would add that as a consideration though.

So do I need to have the PCIII (or whatever I choose) before I take my bike out for a ride with the Thunderheaders installed and the current Stage I?

If you're done with the mods, a DFO would be the best way to go. If you're seriously thinking of big bore and heads, then the SERT is what you want. The PCIII circumvents the ECU while the SERT reprograms it. There are more options with the SERT.
