RE: Montana / Wyoming / Idaho = best times
Summer is Summer - some heat expected as some rain... Just tying to get an idea for those that live in these areas - Least amout of heat and rain .. Just came from a ride on Highway 50 (loneliest highway in America) first two days were great then the weather bottom dropped out.. cold as hell and snow on the way home... Spring in NV is always a risk....

Aside from the fact that it is pouring at this moment in Northwest Wyoming the summers are great for ridin from July 4th on. June is statistically the rainyest month. Everyone needs to remember that the three states you mention are in the Rocky Mountains and anything can happen. Bring your rain gear and something to keep you warm, just in case.

The last two yars I ridden around these states in July and August. Wasn't too hot around 90 in the afternoon. It is monsoon season though so plan on getting rain. I mean downpours especially in the mountains. The eastern part of the states don't get as much rain.

RE: Montana / Wyoming / Idaho = best times
I live in MT and late June, July, and late August are the best times for consistency of weather anyway. Three weeks ago we got 18" of snow in less than a day, had a record low temp of -8 (about 8 was the high). Two weeks later, we nearly set a record high over 90 two days running. This week, it has rained every day since Monday and is expected to quit about next Wednesday. This is all in the central plains, it was supposed to snow up to 3 ft yesterday and today over 6500 feet. I you plan on Bear Tooth Or Glacier then don't even think about before the last week of June nor after mid September as those times are 50/50 at best of getting through without snow or ice storms. Couple of years back in mid June we had RVs trapped in lower campgrounds of Glacier than choppered food and aid to because snow and flooding prevented any other access. Last year in mid September we rode a beautiful day through Yellowstone and them crossed the Bear Tooth in 40 miles ofice storm that afternoon. If you don't want to experience the cold, wet, 40 mph winds of spring and fall weather that often appears in 40 minutes or less out of clear blue skies, then take a little of the heat and come in summer. And still, bring some warm layers if you plan any mountain crossings. Would snow and 30 degrees on the morning of July 4th all the way down to 4400 ft shock you. Of course it was 80 degrees by late evening. Now, on the other hand we did have some decent Feb weather so I rode my RK over 400 miles a couple of different days and about 5000 miles since January.
