Default Seeking clarification on 06 security install

Hey there- I'm considering putting in the hd security system with the Smart Siren II on my 06 Ultra Classic. Here again...hoping this doesn't turn into another "security isn't worth a crap" thread. I'm interested in the convenience of pushing a button to disarm ignition while I run errands all day long on my bike.

So my question is that with the 06/push-button type system, do I need to have the dealer install it for some type of computer matching thing, or is that just on the newer ones?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Also interested in opinions of other security systems that would have the same deal. I want to hear the beep when it is armed, and make it so thebike can't be started. Don't need a system to let me know that my bike just got taken.

You can install it yourself using the instructions in the DIY section of the forum.

It takes about 30 minutes to install and 3 hours to program. Well maybe not 3 hours.

You have to "marry" the new TSSM to the ECM or your bike will only start then die. I found HDForums searching the net for the reason why the bike was dying after the install.

I installed the smart siren II as well. It is plug and play, no muss or fuss.

It also says that I need to purchase a bank angle switch kit sold separately.... can't find a price, but wondering if it is a necessary item?

Yep, what he said. I installed it on my bike and was very simple. I also got the pager.

Yes, except when I turn the key and the system is armed or I sit on the fob and arm it by accident. It is no substitute for heads up thinking and good insurance though.

Bank angle sensor is incorporated in the TSSM. You have to have the one specific to your bike model. The separate unit is for bikes with sidecars that don't lean when parked.

This is only needed if you trike it or run a side hack. Not sure if it is needed if you use a center stand or not.

Just be sure to get the TSSM for your year and model. Pop the seat and remove the existing TSM near the battery, watch that spring clip, then plug in the new one. You can use the procedure in the DIY section of the forum or if you have the HD Electrical Diagnostics manual for your bike the process is in there as well. The bike is prewired for the siren.

Somewhat off topic: I have the Gaurd Dawg rf system. It interrups the power to the starter,if you dont have thekey fob the bike wont start. No siren or alert of any type though. It was $150 and a 10 minute install.

Just found out I got laid off from work. Guess the system will have to wait. Crap.
