05 Ultra:

STOCK = 42 mpg average

Rush slip-ons 2.00" baffles + Stage 1 AIR + PCIII (exact map) = 32 mpg average

That little bit of extra performance came at a significant mpg price. BUT it is not as bad as it sounds $$$ wise:

8,000 miles per season @ 32 mpg = 250 gallons versus 8000/42 = 190 gallons DELTA = 60 gallons X $2.50 = $150

Going to try 2.5" baffles and a new map this spring anyhow.

Then a dyno if needed. Local dealer says $250+.

I never expect to see 40 mpg again; with or without a dyno.

Seems like there are Ultras with great mpg's and then some with not so great mpg's - luck of the draw???

I personally would look at getting it dyno tuned by another shop.

Take it back and complain, that mileage is terrible. Did they give you a canned map or a custom map with dyno time.If it is a custom map, all the more reason to complain and make them do it over again at their expense. Some of these "DYNO" guys working for the dealers shouldn't be given an electric drill to operate none the less a dyno with your bike on it. If you go elsewhere at this point, you only start from square one and the $$$ again. Give them a chance at correcting it otherwise speak to the owner/manager and voice your dis satisfaction and ask what they intend to do to make it right.

Did they bill you for 3-4 hours of dyno time, if they did, they need to do it again, your mileage is way too low. If you can't find an actual billing for dyno time they might have just installed your SERT, and did the CD down load, I've heard of that happening a lot.

That doesnt sound so good. I have a 95" on the UC with a SERT tune and average 35 MPG in town and 39 on the highway, even If I hot rod the lowest I get is 31. I would go back to the dealer and bitch. My 05 EG with a SERT, stage I, and true duals avg. 42, with a stock 88.

o5 Ultra with SEW slip ons, K&N and the factory map...(I know a lot of bad juju talk about the factory map, but they dyno'd as well and itreally pepped it up)...average 210 miles before the light comes on, have 13K on it and no problemos what so ever....factory map seems to work fine and no add on tuners needed.

Factory map does work fine for '05. The problem lies with the '06's, the download does not do a good job.

Streetrunner: I've run three tanks of gas through my SG. No modifications on the bike. 30, 37, and 33 mpg. City and highway miles included with all three calculations. Not quite what Harley showed in their info at 39mpg. city and 46mpg highway but I'm not a 180 lb. rider either. I figure after 1000 miles I will look into better mileage.

I hate to be a party pooper but I have almost 1500 miles on my SG.

I agree with all the comments above. I have a '05 Ultra which, before getting it dyno'd, was giving me 40 mpg -- but hot, hot, hot !!! It was running so lean that it popped and coughed on decel and quick accel off rolling stop.

Dyno'd it at reputable dealer who took the time to do it right. MPG dropped from 40 to 36 -- and that is mixed driving -- highway and around town. And while I don't rod it around all the time, I'm not the most conservative on the throttle.

Set up: SERT (dyno'd), K&N, Samson Rolled Thunder pipes.
