Default Thinking about taking the Autotrain from FL

I'm starting to plan a trip from South Florida to Lorton, Va via Autotrain.

Ride across the Shenandoah Valley to Memphis, TN
South on the Natchez Trace to New Orleans
Then Riding Back to south Florida.

My question is...

Has anyone take the Autotrain with their bikes from Florida to Virginia?

I'm thinking about getting a roomette. Any input would be helpful.

Room mate? Are you male or female? How much will it cost? If a female please post a pic.

I had a friend use the auto train from VA to Fl a few years ago so he could join us at Biketoberfest. He said it was great. Got to pull his bike in himelf, watched & assisted with the tie down, & then spent the rest of the trip in the club car drinking. What could be better, besides actually riding it?

I havent done it yet but have talked to several people that have(like 10 or 12) and seems everyone has had a positive experience. I considered it for Daytona Week but we ended up traileringthere and flying the girls down to be on the safe side with the weather in march.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I'm moving to NJ from Miami and I was thinking of riding my bike to Sanford, FL hop on the train to VA then ride it to NJ. The Auto-train price is 225.10 from FL to VA which includes one passenger and bike. It's a 17hr 29min ride.

I don't get the point of taking your bike on a train... on a ship over to Europe, yes I can understand doing that.. but putting your bike on a train is like... putting your bike on a ... trailer[:'(][:'(][:'(]

It has wheels for a reason.... use them! Ride I say.
