I don't think it's us. The pumps have changed. Hard to control the flow, I used to be able to let the gas trickle out near the top. Not anymore, so I bought McCuff from http://www.mccuff.com/. Works great, only need a paper towel to clean prior to storing.

RE: 3 fill up's, 3 splash
I've had only a little more hassle with my EGC than I've had with my others. Every machine has it's tricks that you need to know.. So far I've had better results if :
1. I pump slow.
2. I don't get greedy and top off the tank excessively.
3. I stand her up while still in the saddle, balancing her between my legs (no, this ain't a sex joke) and pour the gas directly down into the tank rather than angling the nozzle into the neck (still not a sex joke).

I fill with the bike on the jiffy stand and go slow while keeping a rag handy. 4000 miles and 2 big splash spills, so mostly going slow and angling the spout towards the back and uphill side of the tank seems to help. And Idon't smoke much while filling her. . . .
