RE: CHAPS!!!!! Wanted Non Leather Chaps for cool weather/Rain!!
If you're looking for rain or cool weather protection, why not buy a pair of pants to a riding suit, Gore-Tex or the like? When I went to Alaska, I took chaps, leather jacket and an HD Gore-Tex rainsuit. Because it was cool and damp, for the most part I wore the GoreTex, hardly touched the leather. If I had it to do over again, I would have left the leather home. Them Beemer riders been wearing them suits a long time and I think they are on to something. At his point in my riding career, I concentrate much more on functional than aesthetics. That said, I have seen nylon chaps, might want to do a web search. Remember, though, in chaps, the most crucial areas will still get cold and wet, hmmmm, maybe a Gore-Tex ball sock?

I have these and they are great: www.coloradochaps.com
They're kevlar with knee/shin protection pads and leather panels at the calves to keep them from melting on the pipes.
They hook to your belt rather than have the waistline set-up. Top quality gear made in the USA.
I also have oilskin chaps that I use for upland bird hunting. I don't see them holding up real well on a motorcycle, plus they get stiffer than a board when it's cold. They're not cheap, either.
