Had to go into work this Saturday morning for a special project....harly any traffic on the roads going in. I got to speed test my new Clearview windshield at 95mph thinking to myself that my new ultra is worth every penny at that moment...

Got off the nearly empty freeway and waited at the light at the end of the ramp...still no traffic ..thinking going thru it anyway after a couple of minutes...but reminding myself to be patient and just wait for the green...it comes...I'm always checking on traffic wether I've got the green or right of way...just to see if the drivers are actually paying attention...I see a truck approaching the intersection before the light changed for me...keeping my eye on him as I start to ease past the friction zone....but then hitting my brakes hard...by now I'm only a foot into the intersection and stopped as I watch this yahoo's tires smoking as he slides into the instersection stopping within a few feet of me....As I'm looking him in the eye, he politely waves me though....this was the only time I've too shook up to give him back my customary wave that I reserve for special cagers...

I know that these experiences happen to us all....and sometimes worse...but I honestly can't wait to get back out on the road after work to enjoy this Saturday...the skies are still blue and the day is still beautiful...and thekey word in the subject lineof my post is "almost"....

I know it might sound hokey...but I was blessed today...carpe deum

Not "blessed", take the credit that's due! You were alert enough & using good riding skills to compensate for another drivers inattention. Good job! You deserve the credit, accept it!

I don't see a problem with ultrageezed posting this anecdote here in the Touring section, as he rides a Touring bike (FLHTCU), and will probablybe hanging out here most of the time due to that fact. His story is one we should heed, as it is good heads up for us all. thanks for posting.

Just took the advanced course yesterday and I think they said >70% of moto accidents happen in intersections. I never know the numbers before but knew it was high. Drive defensively always. Glad your alright!
