Question about the recurve windshield: I am 6'1" and would like to move the wind up about four or five inches. Do I need to get a 4.5 recurve or a 6.5?

Congrats on the new bike. I picked up my vivid black sg two weeks ago and have 750 miles on it. The stock windshield is killing me too. I am 6'1" too. I just ordered the next size up (6.5") and am waiting for it to come in. If that don't work I will have to try the recurve your speak of.

I loved the LR for cruising, but after 30 mins my back started aching. Certainly an awesome looking bike, but not what I was looking for. I can't say enough positive things about the SG I have only ridden it a total of 90 miles, but I am sold on it. I will be going to school at FT Rucker in a week and will be traveling back and forth, on weekends, between there and Ft Bragg. I am sure the 500+ miles one way will be an easy feat! I can't wait! In two months I will be headed to Seoul, Korea for the next three years. The SG will be accompanying me and I am sure we will rack up many miles touring the Korean countryside.

Thanks for all the words of welcome. I look forward to interacting with you all via the forum.

I went with the HD 61/2 inch replacement for the stock 4 inch on my 2007 Street Glide and although it helps it isn't the answer. I have the fairing mount dragon wings and the baffle that mounts between the forks and I still get helmet buffeting and an updraft that dries out my eyes after a while in the saddle.
I am going to switch to a 8 inch clearview or fast aire with the bend at the top of the screen that throws the wind higher to remove the buffeting. The updraft however is a different problem and I may have to go with lowers to block that since the fork mounted chrome wind deflectors that work so well on a RK won't fit the FLHX because the turn signals are fork mounts and not on the light bar.
If anyone has any better solutions I would love to hear them.

Good choice. I just moved from a Fat Boy to FLHX. No regrets. There are lots of posts on windshield options. Some like the Cee Bailey SSC or the 6 1/2 or 8 inch Clearview recurve. I ordered both an SSC and Clearview. I will post my thoughts on both after they are delivered.

Enjoy and ride safe.
