Default the King died today aby thoughts?

My 06 Road King Started missing and acting like it was only running on 1 cylinder today. Pulled over and checked the plugs. they looked good. I had 16 miles on a fresh tank of fuel From a station I,ve never had trouble with before. I limped it about 2 miles to a gas station and waited on the tow. the bike would surge forward once in a while for a second like the 2nd cylinder was now getting fuel and then drop back to 1 cyilinder. Its now at the harley shop waiting to be looked at in the morning. any thought on what the trouble might be? and could I have hurt the engine " Limping 35 mph " on 1 cylinder to the station? It has the 28 degree injectors and a 95 in screaming eagle upgrade. also just turned over 20,000 miles Kkrommm

I do not know what your problem is but what you describe sounds like the same thing that happen to me a few years ago. My problem turned out to be an intermitten shorted wire going to the fuel injector. Some times it would kick in and sometime it wouldn't kick at all. Limped into thedealer and they spiliced the wire and never had a like problem again. The stealer mech said the wire was pinched at the factory, don't know, but that is how they fixed my problem. Good luck!

You say you checked the plugs, but did you check the plug wires at the coil? Could also be a plugged injector... it doesn't take much. Look inside your gas tank when you get her home. If you've allowed it to set for a while without topping off the tank you could have condensation form inside causing rust.

If the plugs were ok then it is likely a fuel supply problem or one plug would be wet. If you have adjustable pushrods, one might have loosened up.

Check gas for water. Pull the cross over hose from one side and drain into mason jar. Let stand and see if water is at the bottom of jar. I've pulled about 8 oz. from mine doingonce.

Andas you state its after a fill up. I'm highly suspect that you have some contaminated gas from your favoritestation!

Good luck with it.

Water? If you can get it (Depends where you live) try some gas line antifreeze. I always carry a sealed bottle with me on a trip. It has been worth its weight more than once

Well thank you all for the replies, it was a broken rear fuel injector wire. the dealer completly replaced the wire. ( No Splicing!! ) Got back on the road today and put 120 miles on her,, Just to be sure Only problem was the cost [:@]They charged me $160.00 to fix ONE wire. They said it took 4 hours to find the problem. I dont know if I believe that or not but... It would have probabally taken me a few days. So at least im back on the road.. Keepin in the wind[sm=biker2.gif]
