Thanks Guys, But my problem now is that I have an older model, my 98 Evo does not have an ECM due to the fact that I have a carb and not fuel injected. I also had to purchase an installation kit. I went down today and dropped another lump of cash down for the security system and installation kit. Boy you guys must think I'm nuts putting an alarm on a 98, but my ride is like new, still has only 12, 500 miles! Thanks again, you guys are great! Kenny

Nuts? No not at all. I think it's only prudent. Let's face it, bikes are stolen everyday so why wouldn't you protect your investment? As far as it being a '98 is concerned, it appears to have been really well cared for. I checked out your photo album and the bike looks great. I also enjoyed the photo of the Road King and your 3 daughters (I assume). Very cute photo. I hope you have that one framed at home or on your desk at work. Daughters are very special to their Daddy's and mine certainly has my heart. I'm sure the same is true of you.

I hope you checked prices at Zanotti's..........only $173.00 for a factory alarm and only $70.61 for a Smart Siren II

I'm getting both for my 06 SG when it comes in. Much better this way than getting it from the dealer or factory.

My only concern is I read somewhere that you have to get the ECM to recognize the Alarm...............anyone know if this is true???

Good Luck

https://www.zanottimotor.com/shopping/pLookUp.php

You need to know part numbers, which you get from the factory harley site.

I will never buy another part from the dealer again!!!

Hey Tom,

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, those are my three daughters, and as you said, they are the world to me! They also LOVE to go out with me on my scoot. By the way I laughed about you saying that the bike looks like it's been taken care of, my wife says that I'm a compulsive cleaner. I was like that with my PD "Wheel" also, I would go into work early just to wash and wax it before I went out on patrol. I am always cleaning my truck, boat and bike! Here on Long Island, you have to keep your stuff clean, especially in the winter months, the seasons here really put a beating on things! Anyway thanks again for the kind words, and all the best! Kenny

Randy, Thanks a million for this link. I have in the past been using Chicago HD for interent purchases. But I checked out Zanottis, and their prices are much better on most items! I will definately be ordering from them in the future. Kenny

RandyD123 I know you said you would never buy from the Dealer again but that $70.61 does not include shipping. Once you add shipping the total to MI without tax is $84.73. I purchased the same part from my HD Dealer with my HOG discount (15%) and the total without tax was $76.45. So don't forget to add all of the costs when ordering on line.

Yep got it. I was looking at the overall price for the sireen and the alarm and the dealer can't beat it. But yes when you include S/H some part may come close, but I priced out a sissy bar and pad with the mounting hardware with the tour rack and I could save almost $200.00.

Could ya'll answer a couple of questins on the Smart Siren II?
If the siren goes off, does it automatically turn off after a predetermined time?
Also, can the system be armed without the siren active or once it is installed the siren will always sound.
Thanks.
