I have a 08 SG w/ABS and will say it does stop quicker and more controlled than any HD I have ever ridden however it does respond differently than non abs in that when you grab a hand&foot fullit will lock up very briefly then do its deal and you are waiting to see which way its going to slide, it doesn't slide just like its not supposed to. I guess that still continues to suprise me each time it happens, I would buy it again unless I wanted to lock up one end or the other to play around sliding a 700 lb bike for FUN!

Rick, let me put this as simple as I can. What is your **** worth? You can't ad ABS later and if it saves your **** just once it was a wise investment. Why do you think years ago most Police cars went ABS and why do the Police road kings and above have ABS? Because it can and will stop sooner than nos-ABS models. The difference between maximum breaking and a full slide is very small amount of pressure and require lots of practice on all types of roads and in all weather conditions. Do you want to spend your time on practice or riding knowing how well it works? Go ahead and show your smarts, buy ABS.

you can add abs later on but will cost you about 4k at that point as they bike would need to be torn apart and new lines would need to be installed as well as additional equipment. I bought mine without as they didnt have one at the time and didnt want to wait for one with it. i had it on my previous 2 beemers and used it maybe twice but was nice to have in those instances. do you need it NO but for $790 you cant beat it. i think youll be happy with it.

I ordered an 08 without ABS. It was not the money. After 40 years of

pumping the brakes. I thought, I may revert to that in an emergency

and fail to stop. After talking to my friends, and seeing the HD video

on ABS. I called in time to add it to my order.

Best money I ever spent. I have only had to stop quickly twice.

It is much better than regular brakes. My 2 get the ABS

When I was ordering my 08 RK in Dec. 07 I had to think whether I wanted The ABS.I went to a Toronto bike show and got talking to a couple of coppers from the OPP{our provincial police force). They recommended the abs as they have it on their police bikes. They do mostly highway riding on these bikes. That was good enough for me and ordered it.When you are talking about a bike worth over 20 thousand why skimp on brakes.Glad I got em.Just me .02 cdn worth.[sm=smiley20.gif]
