Default Progressive 430 or 440 - 11" or 11.5" rear shocks for 07 SG

Looking to lower my 07 streetglide. I have been looking at the progressive 430 or 440's.

First which is a better shock? Will they ride and handle as good as stock shocks?

Can I either use a a 11.5" or 11" shock with out any worries of bottoming out when riding 2 up. Passenger load combined around 310lbs.

Reason for change is to get more comfortable on the bike. I am also assuming that the front would have to be lowered 1" or 2"

Your thoughts recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i can't answer your question in regards to 2 up, but i have a road king custom (same suspension set up as the sg) and i put 11.5 inch progressive 440s on it. lowered the *** end enough to allow me to reach the ground more comfortably. between a c and c solo seat, and the lower shocks, i can flatfoot at a stop light now.

the 440s do ride at least as well, if not better than stock. but because they are shorter, i can (and do) bottom out on these crappy louisiana roads. its not bad enough to ditch them though. plus, i could bottom out the stock shocks as well..... i would not got with 11s, just not enough compression travel.

i did not lower the front either. no noticeable difference in handling.

I had the 440s 11.5 on my 07SG and they worked find single. Two up ocasionally they would bottom out. I finally went to 12.5 440s now it never bottoms, and I can set them to realy soft.

Regarding the ride difference, I think there is a significant smother ride witht he 440s vs the stock air shocks. The Progressives have equal damping on the up and down stroke, much better than stock.

I put the 12.5 440 (standerd) on my 07 RG. Maybe I should hve got the HD ones, but I still bottom out a big bumps, and they are cranked all the way tight. Sometimes I wonder if they are any better than stock.

I have the Progressive 440 11.5 and I wish I could have my stock ones back, adjusting the air pressure in stock was a pain, until you feel the constant pain of bottoming out with 2 up.
