Default Aux Input Question on HD Stereos

I can see that my HD Stereo has a Aux plug in, in the front face, for a mp3 (or other type) of audio input.
But does anyone here know if there is a seperate Aux input in the back of the unit? I was thinking on doing a cleaner install of my ipod and would rather route the wire (if applicable) to the backside vs. the front.

Thanks in advance.

You don't mention the year. If it is a newer H-K radio I can't help you, but on the older ones you can move the input to the back. AFAIK there was never a rear input offered. I did mine a few years back. Definitely cleans up the look.

There isn't an aux port on the back of the HD headunits--the Harmon Kardon units ('06-'08) and the older Radio Sound units can be modified to have an aux on the back, but the radio needs to be removed from the bike and the case to access the circuit board to make the change--my buddy, pirateeye on HDF, did the mod to his '06 EG Classic for connecting his Zumo 550.

I have an 03 FLTRI and I remember checking once with Radiosound (The people who make the radio for HD, in my year anyway) and they said no. I may be wrong, but shoot them an email.

Also another question: From reading/looking at that thread from Jackja25. After I have access to the input jack in the front, Wouldn't I be able to just splice into the existing L/R/C wires and route to new connection-wire the back. I figuresince i'm not using the front jack if bypassing the cut and solder steps would work? Thx for clarifying/confirming.

I THINK that if you're not using the front jack the radio will not recognize anything and you won'tsee "Aux" as a choice. By cutting the solder, the radio always thinks something is plugged in and you will always see it as a choice as you scroll through the menu.

Ah Got it! Thanks, I make sure to do that step, otherwise just splicing into the 3wires will work then?
