Default Black Exhaust Systems

I've been nosing around the net lately and have noticed a lot of the big exhaust manufactures have come out with ceramic coated black pipes for touring bikes. Does anyone have any experience with them? I'm looking for a new system in the black ones interest me.

Hey Dietdewboy, I think black pipes would look awesome on your bike. That's one of the things I really like about the RK Customs - that they're very flexible from a customization standpoint. Especially considering you have a black bike. I say go for it and post plenty of pictures so we can all be jealous I don't think black pipes would look good on just any bike...for example I think they would look pretty tacky on my RKC or on an EGC, but your RK Custom is a different story.

In 03 I could not find them in black so I bought a brand new set had them stripped and then coated. Now it seems they are way easier to find. I love the look can you tell?

So far the fatcat has been the best black coating i have worked with. I like the bassani's black better, but its more fragile. Very easy to scratch and chip IMO. The V+H is not bas as well but i dont like there selection of pipes it comes in and there shade of black...So far my new black fatcat has been amazing...Its not very old yet, but looks great and performs amazing....

Yep, I have been thinking of black pipes, as well. I have drag pipes, and would like to now get a pipe that is more performance based. I did do the lollipop bolt method, and I was surprised to find that it feels like it made a differnce. Still, though, black woule be nice. Wish I had the coin. Another thing that I have been thinking of, and I have not seen another on a bagger, is to heat wrap my stock headers (black tape)... figure to go down just past where the slip ons bolt on. Would help with the heat on my legs, and like I said, I have not seen it done, on a bagger. Besides, the wrap is only $60, so if I hate it, I can remove them... or put the stock heatshields on top of it...I have to remove the pipes to do some work here, pretty quick. Might do it then. Anyone else seen, or have pics of it on a bagger? Also, on the ceramic coating, is it possible to black out most of the exhasut, but leave about 2 foot of pipe chrome? Just a thought...
