Default RE: Friggin' Exit Gate

UPDATE
The insurance adjuster came and looked at my bike on Tuesday. I got them an estimate. On Wednesday I got a fax with my estimate outlined on the insurance claim form. So i should get a check within a week or so.
$1500.00 in damages.
Sound like a lot...
2 highway pegs
2 highway peg extentions
set of footboards
set of footboard brackets
right side fairing lower
engine crash bar
saddlebag rail
estimated 350$ labor...of course I will do it all my self and save a few bucks.

It really adds up...but hey..it wasnt damaged before the friggin gate arm came crashing down.

BTW..the insurance folks saw the security video. Still trying to get that copy.
All they were concerend about at first was my physical injuries...i had none....It was sort of hard to disput that since after the accident, i picked up my bike. Kind of hard to fake an injury after you pick up a 900# motorcycle.

Man, that sucks, but at least it is getting taken care of for you. I have to park in a garage at work that has those arm gates. Getting in is no problem, but they won't open for me because the bike and I are too light. I have found a way to squeeze through the opening.

Two years ago I was at the ROT ralley in Austin, TX and we were staying at the Crowne Plaza that had the same gates, but they were manually operating them because of all of the bike traffic. The ****** operating the gates closed just as I was pulling in. I tried to gas it, but then realized that my wife was on the back so I just ducked, stopped and took a good whack on the back of the head. I was able to keep the bike upright and the wife was not hurt, but I sure was angry.
