Does anyonehave thevented fairing lowers on all year round? I hear it may increase engine heat during the summer months, but I see many Ultra Classics with them on in the summer. I live in Virginia.
Thanks,
From NC here.
I have the vented lowers...keep them on year round. Just open the vents in the hot weather months.
I just also added the Freedom wings to replace the stock bat wings...adds a ton of air flow as well in the hot weather.
Cheech.. you might get more information if you do a SEARCH on the topic.. there's many posts regarding it
bottom line.. most people in the warmer states leave them on since they funnel the air over the cylinders and provide some "directed" cooling. Those in the cooler areas take them off for the summer, since the heat's not a consideration
I live in NYC area, I hit traffic all the time & it gets hot, I am going to remove them in about a month. Most of the guys in the club will do the same. I just ordered Saddle shields from Kuryakyn to displace the heat from the rear cylender.
Down here in florida i take em off. now on days in the low 90s so far my bike temp aint got above 225. will see what happens once it gets really hot. not sure about putting more air on the engine but my legs sure feel alot better wit em off.
