Monstermile,

Those are great looking passing lights...can you give some parts #s for them. Also how hard were they to instal or were they professionally installed. Looking at getting similiar ones.

Add the passing lamp of your choice. I'll be installing Auxiliary Lamp Bulb Kit - Smoked with Lens Optics #68273-03A

Will have the dealer install. [:@]

Auxiliary Lamp Bulb Kit - Clear Smooth Lens with Reflector Optics
#68450-04A

FWIW, I used Custom Chrome #15085 halogen lamps on my old RK for years. They are $20 each (retail) and produce a very bright pencil beam that can be precisely aimed down the road with little worry of blinding oncoming traffic. With low-beams and these lights, the light output was as good and as penetrating down the road as my 100w high-beams.

These are 37.5w each, which did tax my old RK's breaker when used with an 85w low-beam bulb. I rewired it using an automotive relay, which worked fine for years 'til I sold the bike.
They also make a 75w variety, which would really produce a bright light, but would also require about 12A that would really tax the 15A fuse. This would definitely require a rewiring, and IMO is overkill. The bulbs on the CC lamps are not replaceable being sealed-beam, but the HD variety also look sealed. On the CC if you break the lens the lamp will need to be replaced. On the HD, it appears to have a sealed bulb inside the reflector, which indicates to me it is not a sealed-beam lamp. Can anyone verify this?

Mine. I don't like the big lights on the SG. I think it takes away from the clean lines. 35W Halogens. Headwinds Rockets and light bar.

Has anyone put passing lamps on their FLHX using the Custom Auxiliary Lighting Bracket Kit #69818-06? Can you use your existing front turn signals or do they make you buy another set?
Thanks,

Jeff
Yes I did it.

You use the ones on the bike, it does not look like they come off but they do.

It's a fairly tuffinstall if you never had the fairing off and the ignition out. Give your self lots of time on this one.

Use the Service Manual; and, have a slotted 9/16" deep socket for the nut that secures the passing lamps to the bracket--take a cheap socket and grind a 1/4" +/- slot down its length for 1" or so--the power wire from the lamp will get pinched otherwise when the nut is tightened--and only do about 1/2 a rotation on the nut, remove the socket, and repeat until snug.

I'm going to be removing my aux passing lamp kit, visor trim rings, and new passing lamps (HD clear lens with reflector optics) in the next week or two and installing Motolights. I'll list them in the classifieds "for sale" when I do.

Yep PIA, you gotta strip wires and put clips into plugs. If you had the ignition out before you you know the drill on that whole mess.

And Harleypingman has the facts on the slotted socket.
